Software development firms MartianCraft and Empirical Development have reached an agreement today for merging their teams and capabilities to become a market leader in the rapidly advancing mobile market.

Empirical Development Co-Founders Kyle Richter and Marcus Zarra join Jeff LaMarche and Rob Rhyne as Managing Partners of MartianCraft. Kyle Richter has been named the new CEO of MartianCraft. Rob Rhyne will remain as Board Chairman. “It was an easy decision — asking Kyle to be CEO” said Rhyne. “We share a common vision for MartianCraft and he brings substantial experience to the position. His track record speaks for itself.” Richter added he was “excited about the potential of a unified firm. Together we can offer more comprehensive services to our clients, including design, development, and strategy across every platform that matters.”

Together, the four partners have authored over a dozen popular books on Cocoa and iOS development, creating a concentration of expertise unrivaled by other mobile studios. They have been leaders in the industry for more than a decade, sought globally by countless conferences, events, and corporations for their experience and expertise.

The new MartianCraft will continue their focus on delivering high quality design, strategy, and development services on Mac, iOS, and Android. Empirical Development will strengthen MartianCraft’s existing services while adding their advanced Server Development division. Current clients of MartianCraft and Empirical Development can expect no changes in current and ongoing projects.

Further, MartianCraft will invest its considerable talent in continued design and development of products for creative professionals such as Briefs and Typeset. Richter states “There are exciting possibilities ahead as we consider the capabilities of this combined team.”
